Obama beset by America's far right 5 Months ago Karma: 7
Give the Nobel Peace Prize to the US military, says Liz. One wonders what part of "peace prize" she doesn't understand. Krauthammer, "any moral claim that America might have to world leadership" has not been "effectively undermined" by Obama, it was undermined when the US invaded Iraq on the basis of a pack of lies that YOU helped disseminate. Kristol, it will surprise you to learn that America is not the center of the universe, that the Nobel prize is NOT about America, that the rest of the world outside America and Israel approves of Obama, and that the Nobel committee is not anti-American, only anti you and your ilk, who do not do peace.

I Agree in broad outline with your above diatribe against the American far right, who I Consider to be just as big a bunch of fruitcakes as the Al QUeda brigade (See today's ATol article Al-Qaeda's guerrilla chief lays out strategy by Syed Saleem Shahzad.

AS You rightly point out Obama still has a good image everywhere but (possibly) in the United States and Israel. However it is still early in his presidency, who knows what he may do later on? So the Nobel prise committee may have acted prematurely in awarding him the Peace Prize so soon!

Somebody rather nicely called it a "pre-emptive" Nobel prize.

that's politics. the opposition opposes. having said that, damn, there are some supremely weird participants in american democracy. it is interesting how the tea-baggers etal are economic loons instead of cultural loons. (yeah, i read the nytimes.)

i call the current crop loons because they want medicare/medicaid/ social security/gigantic military/etc but they don't want to pay taxes. more numerate people would figure out that something has to give...
