Yes, fortunately, the Murdoch empire is witnessing "rapidly declining circulation." The pablum it feeds its reactionary audience, although filling, is ultimately unpalatable to all sentient consumers. "Less Rupert can only be good for the globe" (A.Q.) is a motto well worth subscribing to.
Of course, there are other equally unpalatable insidious media models worthy of criticism. There are the numerous government-controlled media, producing only what bureaucrats believe is acceptable fodder for the general populace. And there are the elitist-controlled media (e.g. as in Thailand), denying the majority access to unbiased reporting.
And then there is the internet. Sure, there are governments that, with varying degrees of success, limit access to what they consider inappropriate content. That's OK for porn, but not for news. And the vast network of anti-semitic and other racist websites can only be deplored. But internet news continues to expand, to the benefit of all those wishing unfettered access to what is happening in our world today. So Murdoch can take the twaddle he calls news and shove it where the sun doesn't shine.
