Dangerous steps in Iran's nuclear dance 6 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 1
How many more such articles need be written on this dinosaur of a subject?! The answer should be "NONE", since any literate, aware person on the planet must know by now that all this is simply a pathetic replay of the old Yankee tragicomedy of Iraq WMDs. Repeat the poison often enough and sufficient of the earth's boneheads will ingest (or inhale) enough of it to accept more American imperialism. People who fail to see through this classic example of "the American Way", (vilify, then kill), deserve nothing better for their coming generations than war, war, war. Two paragraphs near the end of this article say it all. Reader, take particular note of the last sentence.

"People in the West forget that Iran continues to have the plutonium that the US delivered to Iran in the late 1960s for this reactor in Tehran that is under IAEA safeguards. Iran's record, which shows it has not misused this ... is under appreciated," the Tehran expert said.

Indeed, Tehran has been in possession of weapons-capable resources for many years without any report of diversion to weapons purposes, so why is there concern now? The answer may lie less with Iran's nuclear intentions but with a US desire for power projection in the Middle East and Persian Gulf.

Lowther puts together several well-worn concepts regarding Iran nukes. All is quite logical, especially the part about Iran not likely to deploy nukes. Persian leadership displays saber-rattling only as one aspect of their prevaricating approach to foreign policy - not unlike other powers, as OVALTINE points out.

At least two possibilities put forth by Lowther seem quite unlikely to happen -

1. "Reconciliation" between Israelis and Arabs in Palestine.

2. Arab unity.

"If Washington is not intending war as the ultimate and inevitable response to the perceived threat of Iranian nukes, all the above is merely laughably dumb diplomacy." So what else is new? The Americans are the acknowledged masters of dumb diplomacy. As Churchill said, Americans can be counted on to do the right thing, after they've tried everything else.
