The Second Coming of Saladin. 3 Years, 2 Months ago Karma: 0

Time, its been said has a different dimension in the Middle East. In that respect Israel's Golda Ma... had it wrong when she said , "time is on Israel's side". Still the exact opposite has taken some 50 years to manifest its beginnings.

Your thesis is as close to becomng "on time" as I have read in a long time. Whenever Saladin arrives he would have been aided and abetted by a more numerous umma than just the ME Muslims. Odd that your views did not consider that this time too he could be a Kurd or an Albania.

A definitely spot on commentary that Spengler aught to read and re-read on a periodic basis.

What has our Pepe seen in Iraq that made him write this article? (the article: www.atimes.com/atimes/Middle_East/IE18Ak01.html)

Mr. Escobar knows that such Saladin is in fantasy world... but there is a Saladin in every soul of the ummah. The nations that govern the world will never led such che guevaran view get such power to change the world. Like Ahmad Shah Masoud, the legendary afghan mojaheddin, will be taken out by their fellaw 'muslims'. Money rules this world, not ideas. But there is always hope that drives humanity into existance. With hope there is life... and it is hope that fuels the resistance. So if by destiny the next Saladin comes (could well be a she or a million people) to the rescue of the oppressed nations of Islam... our Che Pepe Escobar and perhaps with billion souls of the Islamic civilization will be heard with echoes of:

'Hasta siempre commadante Saladin'

...and to Baghdad, to Damascus, and finally to Jerusalem they'll march, in another battle for liberation. Atleast that is the hope.

I hope Pepe Escobar is doing well, and I wish he would again report from Iran.

I have to admit, I started clapping to PEPE after I read this article. not because of "second saladin", but because of Escobar's knowledge and awareness regarding the region, and international geo-politics, war, and propaganda. He says everything I want to say and what I think.

Great job to him. He should be awarded for his knowledge, bravery, and work. He is like the voice of the voiceless. He is our man. He is our Pepe. My favourite writer in asia times. His articles would be even greater if he posted pictures of his traveling.
