escobar's latest is illuminating. america's war and financial troubles are going to leave them flailing for awhile, leaving the BRIC's to establish their own agenda's. let's hear it for the beginning of the end of the unipolar world!

The flip side of the coin is that US hegemony is still going strong. Supposedly neutral Switzerland just voted for an anti-Islam referendum, China and Russia helped US to bully Iran, India is falling all over herself for a state dinner in Washington and of course the most ridiculous Nobel peace prize ever (amongst many atrocious mistakes: Al Gore, ElBaradei, Carter, Arafat, Rabin, Peres, the list is long and impressive).

The first Vietnam stung Uncle Sam pretty badly, but his enemy promptly followed with their own mistakes (USSR's Afghanistan). I just wonder when all's said and done with Vietnam-lite, where BRIC will find themselves. Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose.
